getting started guide
Starting or continuing therapy is an important decision, and we at Up North Counseling want the process to feel supportive, safe, and simple. Hopefully, after reading the steps below, you will feel ready to start your journey with us.
We serve adults and young adults in the Gallatin Valley and beyond. Our typical client is one who is self-referred for therapy, referred by a health provider, or referred by the courts. Regardless of how you found your way to us, whether you are meeting with us online or in person, we are excited to help you take that first step toward feeling better.
What to Expect in Your First Counseling Session
Your first therapy appointment will be approximately 55 minutes, and will give you and your therapist time to get to know one another and decide if the professional relationship is a good fit. During this session, we will discuss your history, what prompted you to seek therapy, and the goals you would like to work on during our time together.
Insurance and Rates
Up North Counseling accepts most major insurance carriers, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Aetna, Allegiance, PacificSource, United, and we are working to get credentialed with Medicaid/Medicare. Our intake and subsequent one-hour sessions will cost $150. For ACT program attendees, the ACT program fee is $385, which includes your SUD assessment and the 12-hour Prime for Life class. See all of our rate details on our Insurance and Rates page.
Intake Forms
To get started, please fill out our “referral form,” which will help your therapist understand the services you are seeking and provide background information, so your first session can focus on you! Additional intake forms and screenings will be assigned based on your needs.
